The Parish Lengthsman

Wickhamford Parish Council has now joined the Parish Lengthsman Scheme.

We welcome the Father and Son team of Philip & Simon Skeys as our village Lengthsmen.

For those who are unfamiliar with the scheme, this provides a unique opportunity for Parishes to prioritise and resolve local highway maintenance issues.

A sum of money is allocated each year to subscribed Parishes which can then be claimed on a monthly basis for the work carried out by their Lengthsman.

 The following are the most common tasks they will carry out but this list is by no means exhaustive,

• Clearing Gulley Grates, Digging Out Blocked Gullies.

• Clear Verge Grips / Headwalls.

• Rod Blocked Drains, Clean Signs.

• Remove Vegetation, Side Out Footpaths.
